Dear parents/carers,
I would like to start with a fantastic success story of two of our students – Kieran (Yr11) and Ellie (Yr10), dual winners of the Southbourne Lions Club. Both applied to the Lions Young Ambassador Competition, open to all 11-16 year olds. Both were strong applicants on paper and did equally well in a face-to-face interview. The judges were thoroughly impressed and decided to award a joint first to both! Both, Kieran and Ellie received a cheque of £100 as a reward. We are delighted at the outcome and very proud of our students. Thank you to the Lions Club for their time, support and generosity during this fantastic opportunity. Much appreciated!
I wanted to share a couple of reminders for the upcoming week. Bourne Community College is supporting the World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10 October. Please read Brooke’s poem, you will find it under ‘upcoming events’. I have extended the lunch by 10 minutes on that day to allow students to explore the stalls from agencies that work with students and support them in their well-being and maintain a good mental health.
Next week we are welcoming our Year7 students and their families for an Information Evening. This will give families an opportunity to meet the subject teachers and our Career guidance advisor. It will be an opportunity to stay in touch with the teachers of your child. I look forward to welcoming you on Thursday 12 October from 4pm to 6pm.
Finally, thank you to parents who have made time to meet with me this week. If you would like to set up a meeting to share ideas/comments with me, please do not hesitate in emailing office@bourne.org.uk. We can meet face-to-face, but if this isn’t possible for any reason, I am happy to arrange a virtual meeting or a telephone conversation.
Hope you are all keeping safe and healthy. Hope you have a good weekend.
Kind regards
Mrs Sharma
