Dear Parents & Carers

As we approach the end of term, we thank you for all your support and just want to say how proud we are of all the students, who have been working so well and who have taken advantage of all the opportunities this term.

We had a wonderful Show Case this week and were so impressed by all those taking part, and are now looking forward to our next big show in February, Bugsy Malone.

Back to school in January

We look forward to seeing all the students back in January on:

Thursday 6 January – for Lateral Flow Testing in school.  Students to come in for their test only and then return home.  Please see below for the times for each Tutor group.   Online lessons will be available for this day.

Friday 7 January – the start of the Spring Term.

COVID

The situation is uncertain but, as always, we will keep you informed of any changes via our website, so please do check this regularly before the beginning of term.

Please do:

  1. Keep testing your child/children in the holidays
  2. Remind your child/children that face coverings should be work by students in Year 7 and above, in communal areas, unless exempt. This is a temporary measure and we encourage all students to have enough masks with them, to last throughout the day.

Students in Year 7 and above must also wear a face covering when travelling on public transport, to and from school.  This also includes dedicated school transport.

  1. Remember school attendance remains mandatory and all the usual rules continue to apply. School are only able to grant leave of absence in very exceptional circumstances.

Dates for the diary:

A reminder that the Year 11 Parents Evening will be on Thursday 13 January 2022, further details will follow when we return.

The Year 9 Pathways Evening planned for Thursday 20 January 2022, has been postponed and a new date will be confirmed to you.

Covid vaccinations will be available on Wednesday 12 January 2022, further information to follow.

Finally, on behalf of all the College staff, may I wish you a very Happy and festive Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Kind regards

Yvonne Watkins
Head teacher

📚✨ Year 8 enjoyed a fantastic day celebrating reading at the Portsmouth School Library Service Awards event at Portsmouth University!

After reading and voting on the shortlisted titles alongside students from schools across the city, they were excited to hear that The Vulpine by Polly Crosby was crowned the winner of the Portsmouth Book Awards. Students also had the opportunity to hear Polly speak about her journey as a reader and writer, with Darcy even asking about her favourite author and book.

The day also included a visit to Portsmouth Central Library, where students explored the extensive collections before settling down to enjoy a story together. A brilliant day filled with inspiration, curiosity and a love of reading! 📖🌟
