Dear Parents & Carers

We are delighted that we can begin the process of reopening the Bourne Community College to get our students back to face to face teaching as soon as possible.

Our aim is to reduce ‘Risk’ as far as possible to ensure a sustained learning opportunity for all and to get all students into school for their first test and then for lessons.

Testing all staff and students is a priority and will follow the plan according to the Government guidelines –

  • As students will have three tests in school, we plan to do this over two weeks and gradually reintegrate all students back to school by Friday 12 March
  • After the three tests in school, students will test themselves at home. Students will be issued with home tests during the week beginning Monday 8 March and will no longer be tested in school
  • After their first test in school students will return home, following their second and third tests they will remain in school
  • From Monday 8 March, Keyworker students will still attend but their bubbles will cease and these students will follow their normal timetable, in their usual classrooms
  • For their first test, students are to report at the ‘turning circle’ and they will be directed by staff to the Sports hall for testing – they must wait outside to be called in
  • All students to wear full school uniform and normal school polices and rules to be followed at all times
  • The wearing of face masks is now compulsory in all indoor communal areas, including classrooms, to reduce the risk of possible transmission
  • Please ensure that your child has a clean mask with them every day

For the second and third tests that students have in school, they will be called class by class during the school day.

When the students return to school, following their first test, they are to use these normal bubble entrances to enter/exit school –

Year 7 – the new building

Year 8 – Adult Education

Year 9 – External door by Mr Harper’s RE room

Year 10 – External door by the Finance Office

Year 11 – cage doors

I apologise for such a long letter but I am sure you have many questions and I hope they have been answered through this letter.  We will keep you updated and look forward to welcoming the students back into school.

Wishing you a restful weekend.

Kind regards

Yvonne Watkins
