Dear parents/carers,

As one would expect, I am delighted to share that our school is in full swing now. As Year 7 settle into a routine, Year11s are attending revision support in preparation for their final exams. This week we also welcomed new families of prospective Year7s for Open Morning tours around the school in action. You may be aware that contractors from the West Sussex County Council are busy upgrading ceilings in parts of our school. This is happening in phases and planned for completion by the end of this term. Thank you to all students and my colleagues who have been truly impressive in keeping abreast with all room changes. Not ideal for contracted work, but the classrooms will be brighter and more energy efficient because of it.

We had a visit from Mrs. Gillian Kegan, Secretary of State for Education on Friday 15 September. It was a short visit where Gillian spent time talking with our Student body, our SENDCo and finally with our STEM Ambassadors. The students did us proud and discussed a range of issues from travel to teachers’ strikes. They were proud to share their achievements in Engineering. A good experience for our students, who prepared their questions and were confident in conversations. Well done to all who participated.

Next week is busy in the diaries, I feel it prudent to remind all families of a few events. We are celebrating the European Languages Day on Tuesday 26 September. Students will have a variety of activities in their lessons and the canteen menus for the week will reflect the same.
Year7, Yr9 and Yr11 students will have their formal school photos taken on Wednesday 27 September.
And finally our Open Evening is here! Staff and students have been getting exciting activities ready for Year6 and Year5 students. The school will be open to welcome visitors on Thursday 28 September from 5pm to 8pm. Please forward our Open Evening information to friends/families with young children in Years 6/5. We look forward to an enjoyable and productive evening.

Finally, if you would like to set up a meeting to share ideas/comments with me, please do not hesitate in emailing office@bourne.org.uk.
Hope you are all keeping safe and healthy. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Mrs A Sharma
Head teacher
