Mrs Watkins message to parents/carers 09/09/2022

Dear Parents/Carers

We are delighted to welcome all our students, including our new Year 7, to a new school year but have been saddened by the news of the death of the Queen.  We are working with the students to commemorate this momentous time.

A few updates for the beginning of term:

  1. We have changed our MIS provider and moved from SIMS to a new BROMCOM system. This means that you will no longer be able to access SIMS or be able to see Behaviour achievements or negatives, until the new App is installed. This will follow shortly.
  2. Go4Schools is still the platform to go to for homework and assessment. If a student has forgotten their password, they should follow the ‘forgotten password’ link. To ensure a smooth start to the term, if there are any other issues please contact your child’s Leader of Year or Form Tutor.
  3. At the start of this new year, we have been impressed by the majority of students’ uniform and equipment. Please can you support us to ensure all the children are wearing their uniform correctly and with pride.
  4. On Thursday 6 October 2022, we will be holding our Open Evening for Year 6 children. Students will leave school at 1.10pm to allow staff to prepare the school and site area ready for opening later that day. A reminder that Friday 7 October 2022 will be an Inset Day and students are not required to attend.

Wishing you a restful weekend.

Kind regards

Yvonne Watkins

Flashback to 2024 when we were visited by Brian Cox as part of his ‘School Experiments’ series. Brian worked alongside Mr Griggs and our students. Take a look for yourself here:

📚✨ Year 8 enjoyed a fantastic day celebrating reading at the Portsmouth School Library Service Awards event at Portsmouth University!

After reading and voting on the shortlisted titles alongside students from schools across the city, they were excited to hear that The Vulpine by Polly Crosby was crowned the winner of the Portsmouth Book Awards. Students also had the opportunity to hear Polly speak about her journey as a reader and writer, with Darcy even asking about her favourite author and book.

The day also included a visit to Portsmouth Central Library, where students explored the extensive collections before settling down to enjoy a story together. A brilliant day filled with inspiration, curiosity and a love of reading! 📖🌟
