Exciting End Of Term News From The Bourne

A busy fortnight wraps up this half term, and we’re thrilled to see our Geography students off to Iceland today! This adventure promises to create unforgettable memories for everyone involved. A big thank you to Mrs. McGarry and Mrs. James for making it happen.

Meanwhile, Year 11 is gearing up for their second set of mock exams. Support is available for all students, so don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Tibbetts if needed.

This week, 10 students and Mr. Harper visited St. Wilfrid’s Hospice, presenting a cheque to show our appreciation. Year 7 has been exploring charity work in RE lessons, and Darcey W’s poster is a testament to her commitment and understanding.

Congratulations to all Year 7 & Year 8 students who shone at the Sport Hall Athletics! Their high spirits and outstanding performances were truly inspiring. Special mentions to Lucia P, Priscilla H, Harrison, Riley, Maisie I, Emily F, Oliver B-M, Toby I, and Noah G.

Please keep an eye out for our newsletter, which will be published soon on our website. Hope you enjoy the highlights of our students’ activities over the past six weeks!

Thank you to all parents and carers for your ongoing support and communication. Wishing you a refreshing half term!

Best wishes,
Mrs. A Sharma

We understand many parents can’t attend workshops or prefer to learn at home. The West Sussex Mind webinars are excellent tools for this. They cover various topics, such as:

- The Adolescent Brain
- Supporting Anxiety in children and young people
- Self-Harm support for parents
- Supporting parents of aggressive children

Year 7 are responding to the work of British artist Sue Brown and her mixed-media style artworks. They have been developing an understanding of positive and negative shapes through different tasks.

Photos show work from our collagraph print-making lessons, where students used positive and negative bug shapes they had previously cut out, as well as real leaves to create collagraphs, mimicking a technique shown in Sue Brown's work.

Year 7 outcomes show experimental and playful ideas, we were really impressed with the quality of their work. These have been excellent lessons, well done year 7!

The Bourne community college participated in the Sports Hall Athletics event at Bishop Luffa. The students exhibited exceptional performances, and we are immensely proud of their achievements. Their conduct and interactions with others were commendable, and they showed their full potential on the field.
